Our Philosophy:
To provide experienced drivers an opportunity to drive their performance car in a safe and controlled environment. To allow our participants the freedom and flexibility to drive at their own pace, and on their own schedule. To enable an atmosphere of camaraderie, communication, and fun.
We believe in cooperation and courtesy on track. Our events are not competitive, nor timed, and we're all wanting to go home in about the same shape we arrived.
Safety is paramount. Minimum experience levels and equipment preparation are enforced, and aggressive or dangerous driving is not tolerated. Only professional corner workers, Advanced Life Support, and Fire/Rescue personel are used at all Asphalt Ventures events. All rules and regulations are explained in detail in advance of the event.
Our History:
I have been involved in High-Performance Driver's Education events with the Triangle Z Club / Tarheel Sports Car Club since August, 1999. After a short time learning the ropes, I began assisting in the organization and running of the events. To this day I have helped to shape the program and uphold its reputation as being one of the best organized, safest, and most educational events of its type. We took a lot from programs like the BMW Car Club of America schools, the original Car Guys schools, as well as various aspects of SCCA club racing and time trials. The program continues to thrive and I will continue to be an integral part of the program for as long as they'll have me.
Recently, I've been trying to attend other organizations events, of varying types. I've also been reading and particpating in discussions on various automotive boards... getting to know my fellow drivers across the country, and even the world in some cases.
One thing is clear: there's no lack of demand for track time! There are more tracks popping up across the U.S. every year, and countless proposals of new tracks every month. I feel like now is the right time to pursue the idea of hosting some of my own events... to offer something that seems to be lacking in the world of track events. That idea is to run an event that is well organized, safe, and fun; while at the same time, not being constrictive or overly structured. A place where like-minded drivers can get together, hang out, and have a good time.
